This course introduces learners to the Health and Safety Representative (HSR) role. It equips learners with the skills and knowledge to fulfil their responsibilities and meet the minimum regulatory requirements for training.

The aim of this wānanga (seminar/course) is to provide an introduction to leadership through the holistic learning environment, from a Te Ao Māori perspective. This course is designed to train people to identify the health and safety risks of the chemicals in a workplace; and to identify, select and apply the legislated and other controls designed to minimise the exposure of workers to these risks, and ensure the proper reporting.

The course ensures PCBU meet the requirements of Regulation 4.5 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

The purpose of this course is to produce a competent Compressed Air Breathing Apparatus (CABA) operator. At the successful completion of the course the operator will be able to describe the safe operation, prepare, test, and recommission CABA equipment; wear and monitor a CABA; and implement emergency procedures.
