Our history

Ara was established in response to the growth of the Auckland Airport precinct and the need to ensure that local communities could access the employment opportunities it created. As the precinct expanded, partners recognised the importance of connecting South Auckland jobseekers and rangatahi with clear, supported pathways into work. Ara Auckland Airport Jobs and Skills Hub emerged as a practical response to this challenge.

Today, Ara continues to play an active role within the Auckland Airport precinct. Grounded in collaboration and shaped by experience, Ara remains focused on putting the airport’s growth to work for the community that lives closest to it. Neighbours becoming colleagues. Proximity becoming possibility.
